Oh, Canada! Bienvenue 2014!

Christmas day we packed up the family Subaru and headed north with 9 skis on the roof (Santa had not delivered the ski box in time). Thankfully the car was newly equipped with 4 studded snow tires to brave the icy roads left by the arctic air that swept across North America leaving many cities without power for days. Fortunately our little Chalet, home away from home, for the next week was buzzing with electricity and festive energy. Five families with 9 kids packed into a home up at Mount Saint Anne, Quebec for a week of winter wonderland skiing.

Parents took turns skiing with the kids through forested single track trails going from cabin to cabin following colorful trails of Skittles and Smarties and warming our hearts and souls with hot chocolate but the fire. Each family took turns cooking the evening meal ranging from Swiss Raclette, to heart warming stew and hot and spicy chilly.

Kids entertained themselves weaving bracelets, playing Apples and Bannanas, warming in the hot tub and cooling off in the fresh snow. We even were entertained with a music performance of What did the Fox Say, which you’ve gotta see!

Even though temperatures dropped to well below 20 below zero on some days, people of all ages were out enjoying getting out in the winter time. It was a great place to to slow down the pace and enjoy the love of nordic skiing.
